2011 - JUNE

Happy new year to all my readers. I was thinking we all deserved a little 2011 recap. So here we go a month by month look at 2011, with lots of pictures of course!
June:
We had so much fun this month playing at the splash park with our friends. David was running all over the park, through all the water, and got soaked. Brody was still afraid of the random squiring, so he spent his time playing in the dirty mud puddles. Miss Riley was just four months old and slept though the whole thing.

Brody has always been the adoring brother!

David started preschool in February after Riley was born. He loves school, as well as running around in his underwear :-) We had a little trouble with him this summer and his need to spray things. Let me explain, he stopped taking naps, and while Brody and Riley slept he would have a quite time or play outside. Harmless right? Well, he would grab anything that he could empty (especially if it was an aerosol can) and smear it all over a new fence outback. I lots a couple cans of sunscreen that way, and have since switched back to lotion. I finally got him a spray bottle and told him that if he was feeling the need to spray just to tell me! After that, he would come up to me and say, "mom I need to spray!"

It was about June that I bought a cupcake magazine and well make cupcakes every couple of weeks for the summer! Who can say no to cupcakes? These ones were lemon meringue and very tasty... I think it might be ready to make them again.

Summer Time...

and the living is easy...not!  David is just a preschooler and I already wish he was back to school.  We are doing a summer program that's every Wednesday morning so that will help.  He thinks he is so big.  If you ask David how old he will be on his next birthday, he will tell you 6.  Age of choice I guess, by the way he will be four. He is too cool for a nap, but will often fall asleep watching a movie or in the car after 4 o'clock.  David is my sweetheart! He is always giving hugs and kissing, and is so thoughtful sometimes.  He'll notice and tell me when I look nice or am wearing something new.
Brody talks more and more all the time, I don't notice because I am here all the time.  Some new favorite phrases are:
"ont an it" I don't want it
"where dadid o?" where'd david go?
"i ont ow?" I don't know? (said with a super cute inflection)
"i ant bappy" I want passy.
"dada home" yeah he says that one well!
"uppy down" for up or down very creative and efficient
He loves sucks, fruit snacks, waffles and oranges (which I have to monitor the intake of carefully!)  Brody loves Riley to a fault.  I just had to leave because he loved her right of the couch.  Don't worry he must have let her down easy because she really didn't cry.
Riley is learning so fast.  It's fun to compare her to the boys because she is better at different things then they were. It's those fine motor skills like getting her pacifier in her mouth or playing with toys.  I think is more aware of herself too.  The boys roll over a few times by accident before they knew they could do it. She did it the first time and has been intentionally rolling ever since.
Joe and I just started watching the Office from the beginning again.  With no cable we really have fun getting into a series on netflix.  the last one was lost, which is funny because there are quiet a few references to it in the Office that I never got before.  Joe is busy as every at work, and well me too.  Three kids... wow still surprises me.

N.A.P. spells happy mom!

Would you believe that all three of my little angels are asleep right now! So here we are, blogging away.  I just found out that I have to have a root canal next week, yuck!  The bigger bummer is the bill that will follow.  I cannot say I have much room to complain, I just got back from an awesome girls trip a few weeks ago very rested.  Here we are at my sisters graduation.  After that we shopped till we dropped and Riley slept.

On top of being with the kids all that week, my o'mazing hubby has let me do something with my friends once a week since. I wasn't planning to ditch him so much, but when the invite comes I love to go... Riley too. She slept through her first date the other week.

Last Friday was cowboy day at preschool.  Lucky Dave, I have been feeling in the mood to create so I made him this awesome vest.  He loved being a cowboy so much he wanted chaps like his friend at school.  I went to work and made these sweet tiger chaps.  He wore them all weekend.  Alas they are so last week, now we are running around with underwear outside our pants and on our head, Spider-man style apparently.  He put up a pretty big fight when Dad would let him were his costume in to Chipotle last night. David is also in the habit of changing his clothes dozens of time during the day, but my favorite is when he puts on all his clothes at once.  I think his record is 8 shirts and 10 pairs of pants.

Did I mention, yeah we went to the opening of our very own Chipotle in Fayetteville!  Life in Arkansas just keeps getting better.  I think we will be getting out on the lake soon too.  Joe has been faithfully working out his knee the past week in preparation. The boys are ready to jump in the pool too.  Brody just says "wawa wawa" (water water). I hope he likes swimming this year.
Brody follows David all around like a puppy.  My favorite is when Dave will say, "come on Brod, lets go jump!" Here's a video of them doing tricks.
Speaking of tricks... watch Riley roll. Seem to me when the boys first rolled it was half by accident and they didn't do it again for a while.  Must be a smart girl because she started rolling and wheeling around on Sunday and hasn't stopped.

Giggle giggle

This video is too cute! I am not sure she'll do this again for a while, but I got Riley cracking up! She sounds a little like she's crying but she's not.  This next video is sideways but couldn't resist putting it in too.

Smiley Riley

Isn't she just the cutest thing ever!  I just adore her.  It is fun not to be so out number at our house.  Love you RyeRye you're my girl.

We had a super busy weekend filled with all kinds of fun.  Our biggest adventure was going to the Gentry Safari Zoo.  It's a drive through and petting zoo.  The kids had a blast!  All through the driving part Brody pointed at the animals saiding "horsey" then would make all kinds of animal sounds.  The car in front of us had a loaf of bread they were feeding the animals with so they came right up to the windows looking for food from us too.  The ostriches were the most aggressive.  They would come up to the window with their beady little eyes and poke around.
David a one point whipped out a butter knife and armed himself.  He said it was his "bashette knife" not to be mistaken with a machete.

We saw all kinds of aminals.  When this buffalo came right up to the window we thought, "better not make him mad he could probably roll the car.  Brody, "woe big un!"  (aka big one)
Not sure if you can see well in this picture, but this is a baby camel.  I had no idea their legs were so long!

We had to get a car wash to get rid of the animal drool.  Yes this camel is attempting to eat the window.  He had nasty breath!

I had this nice lady take our picture.  can you tell it's the end of the trip? The boys were so tired, David wouldn't even look at the camera, but I had to prove we were actually there all together.  This is our first family shot with Riley, pretty pathetic.  Can't say I didn't try.

Doggie Dave

We have had some major highs and lows today and it's only 1:45.  Lets start at the beginning shall we...

David jumped out of bed this morning excited for picture day at school.  He was insistent that he needed a hair cut, so I got out the clippers and pretended to trim around his ears.  When we went to pick out clothes and I suggested a nice polo shirt for pictures, "no mom" he said politely "I wanna wear my red striped shirt."  He had his look all picked out for pictures  I guess, and he didn't want gel in his hair if you were wondering.  Threw a few waffles in the toaster and we were off to school.

I took Brody and Riley to the store to grab a few things.  Brody found what he needed too.
I handed cute Riley off at the gym to workout, but before I could leave she threw up all over!  Poor thing, just her reflux acting up, it still happens every few days.  Got her all cleaned up and had a good workout.  By the way, one of my favorite things about working out is picking up my kids afterwards.  Brody comes running up "mama mama mama mama" and throws his chubby little arms around my legs.

Had a good lunch and put Brody down for his nap.  When I came out couldn't find David.  I go out into the backyard to find David in the corner with his pants around his ankles.  WHY DOES MY CHILD THINK HE'S A DOG!  This is the second time he has gone number two in the backyard.  I cleaned him up and put him in one of Brody's diapers just like I said. It didn't last long though he was waddling around pulling at it.  "I don't like diapers mom!"  I guess I should be glad, glad that it's outside instead of on my walls like finger paint.  It's now 2:30, I wonder what the rest of the day will bring.  Oh yeah, girls night!
GOOD LUCK DADDY

Coloring

We have a little problem...

David is enjoying coloring so much I am finding it everywhere! Yes, that is permanent marker and it goes all the way up those skinny little legs. Just when I think I have relocated all the markers and crayons, there is another incident! My mom would tell you it runs in the family. When I was little she heard me singing, "rida rida rida." When she found me it was too late I had colored all over her piano with a permanent marker. Payback I suppose.

He is definitely going through another "test the limits" phase though because we have a few things going on like this.  Things he knows are wrong but does them anyways.  His other big issue... well lets just say I told him today that if it happens again he has to wear a diaper like a baby. It's been a very messy week.

We had an great weekend, which included getting a new grill! Joe and David worked outside for a good hour putting it together. All my boys were so excited to use it. I almost made Joe cry when I told him he had to wait till dinner to use it. Here they are lighting it up.

What did we do with the old grill?
What everyone does with a well loved grill, sawed off the legs and used it to burn our Christmas tree! It worked great and now we can roast marshmallows anytime we want. Yum yum! David liked his burn and Brody's didn't even make it on the stick.
The boys got a little close and were singeing off there little eyebrows.
We were outside today and the boys were hovering over the grill hoping for more marshmallows. Brody said pointing to the grill, "babaaba, dada home!" In other words "dad come home so we can have another fire. He has been saying "dada home" a lot lately. We get the message Brode, Dad's the best! Work is over rated!
